Brandon Booker (born February 2, 2015) is an American football cornerback for the Orange County Otters of the International Simulation Football League (ISFL). Booker was drafted by the Philadelphia Liberty with the fourth overall pick in the 2037 ISFL Draft. In his eight ISFL seasons, Booker has been selected to four Pro Bowls and been nominated for five individual awards. Before being drafted to the ISFL, Booker played one season in the ISFL's affiliated development league, the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL). While in the DSFL Booker played for the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers, who drafted Booker in the fifth round of the 2036 DSFL Draft. As a Myrtle Beach player Brandon Booker was selected to the DSFL Pro Bowl, received Defensive Back of the Year votes, and won the Ultimini.

Early years

Brandon Booker was born on February 2nd 2015 in Phoenix, Arizona. Booker attended Desert Vista High School, known for producing NFL players such as Devon Kennard, Zach Miller and Jalen Jelks. Booker was the stand-out performer for the school's track team and it's football program during his time there. Booker was used as a running back and a return specialist because of his speed and agility, and college scouts became aware of the high schooler via videos of him returning punts and kickoffs on ESPN.com and Youtube. In his senior season, Booker accumulated 1,745 scrimmage yards and 23 touchdowns. Booker also recorded four punt return touchdowns and two kickoff return touchdowns. Booker ran a personal best 10.61 seconds in the 100-meter dash during the state championships, a school record. The All-American Bowl selection tour visited Desert Vista High School, but controversially did not invite Booker to its combine or the game itself. Booker's high school coaches praised his grades and work ethic as much as his on-field play, and Booker would go on to graduate with a 3.9 GPA. Booker's character and physical traits made him very appealing to college scouts, and Booker was considered a four-star recruit by Rivals.com. After much deliberation, Booker eventually announced on his personal Twitter account that he would be playing college football in-state for the Arizona State Sun Devils.

College career

Brandon Booker appeared in 13 games as a true freshman, primarily on special teams. Though he performed well as a special teams gunner and returner, Booker was unable to move his way up the depth chart at running back and played very few snaps on offense. Booker finished the season with just 19 carries for 114 yards. Booker also caught one pass for 12 yards. ASU's coaching staff gave Booker reps at cornerback and safety prior to his sophomore year, and Booker would end up starting 13 games as a defensive back during his sophomore season. Booker finished the season with 47 total tackles and four interceptions, which Booker's coach attributed to him meticulously studying film of the other team's offense prior to each game. Booker's final college season was even more successful and the junior cemented himself as a top cornerback prospect by forcing seven turnovers. Booker finished the season with 58 total tackles, six interceptions and a forced fumble. Booker returned one of these interceptions for a 4th quarter touchdown against the University of Arizona Wildcats, ASU's fiercest rivals. Brandon Booker elected to forego his final year of college eligibility and entered the 2036 DSFL draft.

DSFL career

Ahead of the DSFL draft, Brandon Booker appeared in the 2036 Prospect Bowl for the Miami Grenadiers. As part of a Grenadiers defensive backfield that also included future ISFL stars Zamir Kehla and Matt Cross, Booker helped Miami to a 2-0 pool record and a NGFC title game appearance. Booker allowed just four receptions in his three games and finished the Prospect Bowl with a total of 9 tackles and 2 passes defended.

Booker was considered one of the top cornerback prospects ahead of the 2036 DSFL draft, but despite an early run on cornerbacks Booker fell to the fifth round. This allowed the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers to draft Booker with their first of two fifth round selections and made Booker the ninth cornerback prospect to be drafted.

2036 season

Booker started in each of the Buccaneers' four preseason games and ahead of Myrtle Beach's opening game away to Kansas City it was announced that Brandon Booker would be the team's other starting outside cornerback alongside Rotticus Scott, who had been drafted by the Bucs the season prior.

Myrtle Beach began the season 2-0 and spent the entire season fighting for the number one seed in the SFC and the number one overall seed in the DSFL. Booker's play was solid throughout the season, and in Week 7 he had his breakout game in a home loss against the Tijuana Luchadores. Booker was targeted ten times in coverage, allowing just three receptions for 36 yards while intercepting two passes, returning one inside the Tijuana ten-yard-line to set up a Buccaneers touchdown.

Myrtle Beach finished the regular season with a 9-5 record, and as they held the head-to-head tiebreaker over Kansas City they were the number one overall seed. The Bucs bested the Norfolk SeaWolves 18-0 to win the SFC Championship Game in Booker's first career playoff appearance, advancing to the Ultimini.

There they played the Kansas City Coyotes, with Myrtle Beach as the home team given their superior head-to-head record. Quarterback Chris Ramos threw a touchdown pass and ran for 75 yards and another touchdown in one of his strongest performances of the season, and the Bucs comprehensively beat the Coyotes 27-10 to win their first Ultimini since relocating to Myrtle Beach and rebranding as the Buccaneers.

Booker ended the season having recorded 61 tackles, one forced fumble, two interceptions and 11 passes defended; and was elected by his teammates as one of the Buccaneers' team captains.

Brandon Booker competed in the 2037 ISFL Scouting Combine ahead of the 2037 ISFL Draft. In the first round of the draft, the Philadelphia Liberty made a trade with the Arizona Outlaws to move up to the fourth overall selection, with which they drafted Booker. Following the draft, the team announced that Booker would be one of the team's starters at outside cornerback the coming season.

2037 season

Booker made his ISFL debut in Week 1 of the 2037 (S22) season in a home game against the Chicago Butchers. In the third quarter, Booker intercepted a pass thrown by Chicago quarterback Rose Jenkins and returned it to the Butchers' 1 yard line to set up a Sam Torenson touchdown run. Philadelphia went on to win the game 51-10.

Booker's impressive play continued throughout his rookie season, as he recorded his second interception in a Week 5 30-24 overtime loss to the Yellowknife Wraiths. Booker would intercept a pass in the next game too, intercepting Austin Copperheads quarterback Easton Cole in the first quarter of the Week 6 meeting between the two teams. Booker's interception set up a Philadelphia touchdown as the Liberty took the lead and went on to win 23-13.

Philadelphia entered Week 13 in possession of the third playoff spot in the NSFC, but a loss to Yellowknife while Sarasota beat Chicago meant that the Sarasota Sailfish overtook Philadelphia by virtue of their superior head-to-head record. The Liberty finished the season 6-7, missing the playoffs.

Brandon Booker ended his rookie season with 44 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 3 interceptions and a team-high 17 passes defended.

2038 season

The 2038 season saw Booker continue his good form as the Philadelphia Liberty made the playoffs for the first time since 2031 (S16). The Liberty began the season on the road against the Colorado Yeti, where Booker was off to a flying start. The second year cornerback returned a second quarter interception for a touchdown – his first touchdown as a pro – and had three other pass deflections.

Booker recorded his second takeaway of the season in a Week 4 victory over the Sarasota Sailfish, forcing and recovering a fumble on Sailfish quarterback Dexter Banks II as he scrambled for a first down. Booker would go on to intercept Colorado Yeti quarterback Wolfie McDummy twice in the fourth quarter of Philadelphia's Week 12 victory at home in the Taco Bell Stadium, returning the second interception for a touchdown.

The Liberty went into Week 16 with an 8-7 record, knowing that a victory would be enough for them to make the playoffs provided the Baltimore Hawks did not beat the Sarasota Sailfish on the road. Booker sacked Cooter Bigsby on the first play of the game as Philadelphia went on to win 35-17.

Philadelphia travelled to Colorado for their first playoff game in seven years, facing the number two seed and defending champion Yeti. The game went down to the wire, with quarterback Wolfie McDummy scoring the winning touchdown with a 2 yard run when there was 3:16 remaining in the fourth quarter to take Colorado to the NSFC Championship Game.

Brandon Booker ended the 2038 season having accumulated 79 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, 3 interceptions, 16 passes defended and 2 defensive touchdowns. Booker was selected to his first ISFL Pro Bowl and was nominated for the ISFL Cornerback of the Year award as well as the ISFL Defensive Performance of the Year award.

2039 season

The S24 season was a down year for the Philadelphia Liberty, but Brandon Booker’s best individual season yet. Philadelphia opened the season with a home game against the defending Ultimus champions, the Yellowknife Wraiths. Booker gave the Liberty the lead with a 24 yard interception return for a touchdown early in the second quarter, but three touchdowns in just under ten minutes of game time helped Yellowknife to a 31-25 victory.

Philadelphia lost at home again in Week 2, this time to the Sarasota Sailfish. Booker intercepted a pass from Dexter Banks II at the Philadelphia one-yard-line and returned it 79 yards, but that was a rare positive in a miserable afternoon for the Liberty. The Liberty lost 26-10 and went on to lose their next seven games, starting the season 0-9 and leading to the resignation of long-serving GM Derek Yeeter.

Philadelphia finally recorded their first win of S24 in Week 10, overcoming the Austin Copperheads, the previous season’s ASFC champions, 31-25 in overtime. The Liberty defence secondary held Austin quarterback Easton Cole to 168 yards passing in a sorely-needed good performance.

Booker would record his third interception of the season in Week 12, as the Liberty managed their second win of the season in Yellowknife against the Wraiths. Booker returned a Colby Jack interception 75 yards for a touchdown to end the first quarter and had two additional passes defended in a performance earning him player of the game.

Booker added a fourth interception – ensuring that he would finish S24 with a career-high in interceptions – in Week 13 as Philadelphia lost to Sarasota before adding his fifth and final interception of the season in a Week 15 loss to the playoff-bound Chicago Butchers. With a loss to the Colorado Yeti in Week 16 the Liberty finished the season 3-13 and with the worst record in the ISFL.

Booker finished his third ISFL season with 73 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 2 forced fumbles, 3 sacks, 5 interceptions, 10 passes defended and 2 defensive touchdowns. Booker’s 2 forced fumbles, 3 sacks and 5 interceptions were all career highs.

2040 season

Brandon Booker's 2040 season began on a relative high note as he was selected as a Philadelphia Liberty team captain. Unfortunately, early on-field events were not so encouraging as Week 1 concluded with Baltimore Hawks kicker Datsum PhastBawls converting a game-winning field goal in the final minute of regulation against Philadelphia. The Liberty and their captain rebounded in Week 2, with Booker intercepting two errant Easton Cole passes as he helped the team to a 30-27 victory over the Austin Copperheads. Booker recorded his third interception and first touchdown of the season in Week 3, returning a Dexter Banks II interception 41 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter as Philadelphia won 34-27. His fourth came in Week 9, another victory - this time over a New York Silverbacks team playing in its debut season.

The Liberty entered the final week of the regular season with a 7-8 record and only an outside chance of making the playoffs. A 26-24 loss to the Colorado Yeti confirmed that Philadelphia would miss the playoffs for a second consecutive season.

2041 offseason

2040 turned out to be Brandon Booker's final season as a Philadelphia Liberty player as his departure became one of the biggest stories of the offseason. Reports emerged that Brandon Booker had put in a trade request following another disappointing season and that the Liberty were shopping him to various teams. A trade was reportedly agreed with the Sarasota Sailfish, and Booker was pictured in Florida at the Sailfish team facility as part of a three-day-visit in which he met his new coaches and teammates.

However, all was not as it seemed. Brandon Booker's agent released a statement to the media the day after the visit, stating that his client had now been informed that the Liberty had backed out of the agreed trade with the Sailfish before confirming it with the league office and agreed a trade with the Orange County Otters. Fans as well as teammates new and old were shocked and confused and a release from Booker's contract with the Liberty was agreed in the aftermath. Booker would be a free agent.

After several days of meetings with the Sarasota Sailfish, Orange County Otters and other teams Brandon Booker eventually signed agreed a 6-year contract with Orange County.

2041 season

Brandon Booker made his debut as an Otter in their Week 1 45-42 victory over the Arizona Outlaws. Booker gave Orange County the lead in the third quarter when he returned a punt for an ISFL record 98 yard touchdown. The cornerback also added four tackles and three pass deflections to his 235 return yards in an excellent performance. Booker recorded his first interception wearing the famous orange uniform in Week 3, intercepting an errant Luke Skywalker pass in the third quarter as part of a convincing31-7 victory over the Honolulu Hahalua. The Otters beat a fourth ASFC rival, the Austin Copperheads, in Week 4 before falling to the New Orleans Second Line and New York Silverbacks in Weeks 5 and 6.

Rebounding with back-to-back wins, Orange County found themselves 6-2 and in first place in the ASFC at the halfway point of the season. Booker intercepted Arizona Outlaws quarterback Jay Cue in the second quarter of a 33-21 win in Week 11, but this was one of just three wins Orange County was able to muster in the second half of the season. Entering Week 16 at 9-6 but knowing a win would be enough to secure the number one seed in the ASFC, New York Silverbacks wide receiver Jackson Kingston caught a 12 yard touchdown pass as time expired to force overtime. Running back Buster Bawlls scored a 4 yard touchdown on New York's opening drive, earning New York the top seed and relegating the Otters to third.

Orange County fell 24-15 to the eventual ASFC champion New Orleans Second Line in the wildcard round of the playoffs, as a New Orleans rushing attack led by veteran running back Marcella Tōriki decimated the Otters' defence. The Second Line ran for 217 yards on 40 carries and made very few mistakes, sending Orange County home and handing Brandon Booker his second postseason loss in as many games.
